Dr. Shapiro is an approved provider of Charlotte Area Independent Schools (CAIS) admissions testing for all grades requiring individual testing, including bilingual assessments. This cognitive testing is one of the tools used to provide parents and schools with objective and standardized information to help determine the best possible school match. The admissions testing process is standard across member schools and all participating psychologists.
Scheduling Process:
1. Use link above to schedule your child’s appointment.
2. Select the test for your child’s grade and choose your preferred date/time.
3. Complete the short registration and consent forms.
4. Your confirmation email contains payment information. Check your spam folder or call our office if you do not see it in your inbox within an hour after submitting forms.
Testing Information
Both tests are individually administered by the CAIS testing Psychologist
- Rising JK/TK, Kindergarten, or 1st Grade Applicants complete the Wechsler Preschool & Primary Scale of Intelligence – Fourth Edition (WPPSI-IV). Appointments generally last 45 to 60 minutes.
Please ensure that your child will be at least 4 years old by the scheduled testing date. - Rising 2nd, 3rd, or 4th Grade Applicants complete the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children – Fifth Edition (WISC-V). Appointments typically last 60 to 90 minutes.
Bilingual assessments: after your appointment is scheduled, Dr. Shapiro will contact you to discuss the best evaluation plan for your child and their academic goals.
- Schedule your child’s appointment directly through my Client Portal using the link to Book CAIS TESTING Now.
- Select your preferred appointment date/time and complete the electronic registration and consent forms. You will be automatically directed to schedule the correct test based on your child’s age and grade.
- You will be directed to complete the simple intake and consent forms. Your appointment is confirmed when payment ($300) is received by credit card or Zelle, with links in the registration forms.
- You will receive a confirmation email after registration is complete. This is an automated process, so please check your spam folder if it does not arrive in your inbox.

CAIS Testing Cancellation Policy:
Per CAIS Guidelines, a nonrefundable $100 fee applies to all cancellations after payment is made, and cancellations within 72 hours of your scheduled appointment are not eligible for a refund. For Monday appointments, cancellations must be made by the preceding Wednesday. If an unforeseen circumstance arises within 72 hours of your appointment, please contact our office immediately to discuss rescheduling options.
Follow-Up:
An optional parent-only feedback session is available if you would like further insight into your child’s performance and the educational implications. You can schedule that in advance by calling or emailing our office or wait to schedule at a later time.
